As the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PUC Berhad (“PUC”), CHEONG oversees the operations and overall business direction of PUC across its core business areas and subsidiaries. With his strong technological expertise and business leadership, CHEONG envisions raising PUC’s profile as the leading digital technology services company in Malaysia.
An entrepreneur at heart, CHEONG started his first venture with GeoFoto Pte Ltd in 1999 as Co-Founder and Chief Architect where he developed system architecture and marketed imaging technology in collaboration with his alma mater, National University of Singapore (NUS). As an extension of his line of work, he subsequently designed a state-of-the-art online photo printing system which was sold to Fujifilm in 2001.
His passion in the industry led him to be the Founder and Director of Pictureworks Pte Ltd, whereby his strategic direction propelled the company to become a leader in digital imaging in the region. Pictureworks’ achievements include launching the world’s first photo printing kiosk for smart phones. It now has operations in more than seven countries, serving 100 million customers annually.
Prior to this, he was with [email protected] Pte Ltd (which was acquired by Wirecard), the first company to provide a two-way authentication for online transaction using mobile voice calls. As the Business Solutions Director, he led a team in the planning and development of large scale payment systems and innovative payment products including mobile applications to meet the growing demands of Malaysia’s online e-payments ecosystem.
CHEONG graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with Honours and has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from NUS.
In his new role as Group Chief Strategy Officer, Kelvin will leverage his extensive corporate development experience as he oversees all PUC Berhad’s (“PUC”) strategic initiatives, and formulates, develops and aligns the Group’s overall corporate activities and business initiatives. He also manages key relationships with regulators, investors and the entire PUC stakeholder ecosystem.
Kelvin started his career in Research & Development with Via Communications Network where he was involved in product development, providing counsel on information systems and software architecture.
He then joined Nanyang Online Sdn Bhd as a Senior Executive, Business Development, where he took on the development of the company’s new business initiatives in electronic media and content before his transfer to RedHot Media Sdn Bhd (RHM) in 2004.
He has served in various capacities in RHM across the company’s Business Development and Corporate Development divisions. His notable achievements include successful intrapreneurial ventures in developing the company’s new media and public relations services, and being a key team member in facilitating the company’s expansion and listing on the AIM market, London Stock Exchange as the Assistant Vice President, Corporate Development. In 2008, he was promoted to Vice President, before his posting as the Group Senior Vice President of Resource Holding Management Ltd (RHML) and PUC, following a reverse takeover of PUC by RHML in 2014.
In January 2016, Kelvin was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Founder Energy Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PUC, to manage new business initiatives in renewable energy following a RM42 million fund raising corporate exercise. In April 2016, Kelvin was also named Group Chief Operations Officer and Executive Director, PUC.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computing and Information Systems with Honours from Staffordshire University, United Kingdom.
As the Group Chief Technology Officer of PUC Berhad (“PUC”), Erwin will combine innovation and security to lead a stable of talented IT professionals to elevate the company’s technological direction and digital approach across all core businesses, especially technology, e-commerce and integrated media services, in line with PUC’s long term growth plans to become a leading digital services provider.
A 17-year IT veteran, Erwin founded Enovax in 2010, growing the modest IT business into a full-fledged integrated IT business solutions company and regional player in the industry, known for its full suite of one-stop customized solutions to address small and medium enterprises’ evolving industry demands. He is integral in building the strong capabilities and knowledge base of Enovax in online ticketing, payment gateway solutions such as e-wallet, prepaid card and e-voucher management system, business process management and resource planning which has been successfully implemented for various key clients such as Sentosa Development Corporation, Hitachi, Deloitte, Fuji Xerox, Golden Village, SAFRA and Certis Cisco and used by millions of users. These include turnkey e-commerce projects to develop Sentosa’s first B2C and B2B online ticketing system and QuickTix which enables quick and paperless cinema admission for Golden Village by QR Code, one of the first companies in Asia to implement the system.
Prior to Enovax, Erwin served in multiple capacities covering the region which include Singapore, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. In 2008, he joined Deloitte Singapore as the Assistant Manager in the Information Technology Risk Consulting practice in the Enterprise Risk Services Division where he specialised in the design and implementation of enterprise security and risk management products for large-scale banks and organisations in Singapore and China including a solution now widely used in banks around the region. His career start was in two of Singapore’s largest system integrator companies, NCS and SCS, before he worked with [email protected] Pte Ltd, an online payments solution company.
Erwin graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University. In addition, he is a Certified Information Systems Auditor and SUN Certified Java Programmer.
Christina brings her cross-industry experience in her role as Group Chief Marketing Officer for PUC Berhad (“PUC”), where she is responsible in the overall communications, branding strategy and crisis management, in supporting the company’s various business focus areas – integrated media services, e-commerce, technology and renewable energy.
Christina is an avid public relations and marketing communications professional with over 20 years of in-depth expertise across a wide spectrum of industries, including broadcast, telecommunications, and tourism and hospitality, to name a few.
She first began her entry into leisure and tourism (L&T) sector as the Manager, Publicity, at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort before taking on the role as Head of Public Affairs for Ngong Ping 360, where she managed corporate communications and crisis management in the promotion of Hong Kong’s top tourist attractions on Lantau Island.
Her passion and strength in leadership led her to take on the opening of the world’s largest Sheraton and Macau’s largest hotel in 2012, as the Director of Public Relations for Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central, where her team brought home coveted industry awards – the Starwood Hotels and Resorts‘ Divisional Public Relations Award, Asia Pacific Division, in 2012 and 2013. Following this, she became the Director of Marketing Communications for JW Marriott Hotel, Macau and The Ritz-Carlton, Macau, at a time when Marriott International first introduced twin hotel portfolios in Macau.
Christina is a certified attractions professional, where she is an IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) Certified Attractions Executive (ICAE), which represents the highest level of certification from IAAPA. She is also a core member of the IAAPA Sub-committee – Asia Pacific Membership and faculty member of the IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers, the attractions industry’s premier development programme for professionals.
Christina read law and sociology at Keele University in the United Kingdom.
As the Group Chief Commercial Officer of PUC Berhad (”PUC”), Kenneth Hiew currently leads the operations and strategic direction of RedHot Media (RHM) and EPP Solution Sdn Bhd with a responsibility for bottom line factors which include long range planning, restructuring and streamlining current business activities in addition to identifying new business opportunities in the media and payments sector. Prior to this role, he was the Group Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director of PUC.
In addition to his knowledge and expertise in the media and payments industry, Kenneth also has more than 20 years of experience in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. His FMCG career saw him working in Nestle and later in Fiamma Berhad where he developed his skills and leadership to become the Regional Sales Manager. In this role, he was tasked to manage 7 branches and a team of 40 colleagues, who marketed home appliances from local and international brands, namely ELBA and MEC. His strategic direction was crucial in bringing in significant gains for the business.
Kenneth graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with First Class Honours from Universiti Putra Malaysia and has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Universiti Utara Malaysia
